On January 6th, Samsung Electronics unveiled its latest vision, “AI for All,” at CES® 2025. This exciting new direction aims to make artificial intelligence an “Everyday, Everywhere” experience, bringing the power of AI into the daily lives of people around the world. Building on a decade of leadership in connected home technology, Samsung’s goal is to make our interactions with AI more personal, impactful, and empowering.
Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division, kicked off the press conference with an overview of the company’s ambitious roadmap for Home AI. This plan is about redefining what home means, offering tailored services across all intelligent, connected devices. It’s a bold step that underscores Samsung’s commitment to human-centric innovation, making life easier and better for everyone.
“I’m proud of how we’ve introduced new technologies into the home, connecting key devices and setting the standard for the home of the future,” Vice Chairman Han said. “This year at CES, we’re doubling down on delivering personalized experiences through AI, and we’re committed to leading this journey for decades to come.”
Bringing AI into the Heart of the Home
Jonathan Gabrio, Head of the Connected Experience Center at Samsung Electronics America, expanded on Samsung’s Home AI vision during the press conference. He highlighted how AI is being integrated across the connected experience to cater to various lifestyles. Whether it’s a single-person household or a bustling multi-generational family, Home AI adapts to individual routines, creating a hyper-personalized smart home experience.
Security and privacy are fundamental to Samsung’s Home AI strategy. As more connected devices enter our homes, safeguarding user privacy becomes even more critical. Samsung’s response is the Knox Matrix, a security feature that uses blockchain technology to protect home appliances, mobile devices, and TVs. The Knox Matrix Dashboard offers transparent privacy controls, ensuring that all connected devices work together to shield users from digital threats.
Samsung’s One UI further enhances the connected experience, providing seamless interoperability across all devices. This integrated software experience is equipped with AI-based features and offers software updates for up to seven years, ensuring longevity and relevance.
SmartThings: The Backbone of AI Integration
At the core of Samsung’s smart home ecosystem is SmartThings, the platform that brings intelligent connectivity to millions of users worldwide. With its open innovation approach, SmartThings is now equipped with advanced AI technology, making the smart home experience more streamlined and personalized. Features like SmartThings Ambient Sensing analyze human movements and ambient sounds, enabling connected devices to respond intelligently to daily routines.
Bixby Voice, Samsung’s AI voice assistant, enhances usability by recognizing individual voices and tailoring responses accordingly. It’s all about making interactions with technology more intuitive and user-friendly.
Expanding Beyond the Home
Samsung’s AI vision isn’t confined to the home. The company is extending its AI innovations to new industries with SmartThings Pro, a B2B solution designed for multi-residential homes, retail spaces, hotels, and more. This platform helps businesses better understand energy usage, identify maintenance needs proactively, and gain comprehensive control over connected solutions.
In the automotive sector, Samsung’s partnership with Hyundai Motor Group aims to bring SmartThings to Hyundai EVs. This collaboration allows users to locate parked cars easily and even receive recommendations on when to recharge their EVs based on schedules and rates.
A Future of Inclusive Technology
Inhee Chung, Vice President of the Corporate Sustainability Center, emphasized Samsung’s commitment to using technology for a more inclusive world. Through initiatives like Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Samsung is inspiring young innovators to use technology to address global challenges.
The Samsung Global Goals app and the Generation17 initiative are just a few examples of how Samsung is mobilizing communities to advance the Global Goals, raising millions of dollars and empowering young leaders worldwide.
Samsung’s “AI for All” vision at CES® 2025 is a testament to its dedication to innovation that makes a real difference in people’s lives. By integrating AI into everyday experiences, Samsung is paving the way for a smarter, more connected future.
